In the UK there are now many walk in Health centres where you can get general information about services available in your area or you can look up NHS Direct on www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk Other health professionals your general practitioner may refer you to: Social Worker – will be able to help you with any problems you may have with regard to benefits, housing and other welfare issues, including thosae which affect other members of your family.
Psychiatrist – a doctor who specialises in treating illnesses which have an emotional basis. They can prescribe specialised medications and put you in touch with other support networks.
Psychologist – There are many different types of psychologist. However within the NHS they encourage their patients to understand their repetitive patterns of behaviours. They may suggest new ways of approaching the difficulties you are having.
